 Job Title: Community Liaison Officer

Locations: Kaduna, and Nasarawa (Multiple positions assigned by Local Government Area)

The Organization is seeking to engage Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) to support the implementation of project activities within assigned Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Kaduna State and Nasarawa State. The Community Liaison Officer will be responsible for providing technical support to Mechanization Service Provider (MSP) cooperatives within various communities in their assigned LGA, ensuring the effective implementation of project activities, and strengthening the capacity of MSPs in entrepreneurship, cooperative governance, and business development. Successful candidates will be engaged for specific LGAs within Kaduna and Nasarawa States and must be resident within their assigned LGA.

Duties and Responsibilities


Technical Support:

Provide technical support to MSP cooperatives within various communities in the assigned Local Government Area. Support cooperatives with farmer and client recruitment. Support cooperatives with mentee recruitment and integration. Support cooperatives in implementing activities that improve productivity, including equipment and tool demonstration days and client outreach programmes. Support cooperatives to aggregate and fulfil demand. Support the Communications team in identifying potential impact and success stories. Provide bi-weekly progress reports on cooperative activities.


Data Management:

Provide real-time data support to the MERL Unit using relevant mobile applications and data collection tools. Ensure services provided by MSP cooperatives to farmers are accurately captured using the organization's designated digital platforms. Ensure farm sizes are properly measured and captured by cooperatives using the approved data collection tools.


Partnership and Collaboration:

Work with Relationship Officers to mobilize and strengthen MSP cooperative groups. Collaborate with MSPs to ensure mechanization equipment is safe, secure, and efficiently maintained. Immediately alert the appropriate Relationship Officer of any equipment fault or damage to facilitate timely intervention. Serve as a liaison between the organization's representatives and MSPs in reporting events, activities, and relevant developments.


Business Development:

Strengthen MSP group dynamics and governance structures to enhance group stability. Ensure that cooperative meetings are held monthly. Ensure cooperative documentation is kept up to date, including minute books, financial records, and equipment logs. Monitor data shared by cooperatives to ensure financial records are accurately maintained, including proper documentation of income and expenses. Support cooperatives to generate and fulfil demand. Ensure payments for fulfilled demand are processed through the approved organizational platforms and cooperative accounts. Monitor the management of assets, including labour-saving devices and tractors, to ensure they are efficiently utilized and adequately maintained. Conduct refresher training on the organization's digital applications and other relevant tools.


Loan Recovery:

Ensure all agreed sums allocated for loan recovery are paid into the designated organizational account. Work with the Relationship Officer to ensure cooperatives adhere to their agreed payment plans. This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities. Duties may be modified at the employer's discretion, with adequate notification provided.

Local Government Areas (LGAs) Covered

Kaduna State: Chikun, Igabi, Ikara, Kachia, Kauru, Kubau, Lere, Makarfi, Sabon Gari, Soba, Zangon Kataf, and Zaria LGAs Nasarawa State: Akwanga, Awe, Doma, Karu, Keana, Kokona, Lafia, Nasarawa, Nasarawa Eggon, Obi, Wamba.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of Ordinary National Diploma (OND); HND or BSc is also acceptable, preferably in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Cooperative Management, Rural Development, Social Sciences, or related fields. 1–2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in agriculture, youth programming, cooperative development, or development projects. Familiarity with cooperative group strengthening approaches. Must reside within the LGA of implementation and be willing to travel within assigned communities. Must be fluent in Hausa or the local dialect spoken within the LGA of assignment. Proficiency in using an Android smartphone.


Preferred Skills and Abilities:

Experience working with youth groups or cooperatives. Basic understanding of small-scale agricultural mechanization. Experience in community mobilization and stakeholder engagement. Ability to collect accurate field data and prepare concise reports. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to speak Hausa or the relevant local language is an added advantage.
