The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for managing and optimising the Company's end-to-end supply chain operations, ensuring the timely, cost-effective and efficient movement of products and materials from suppliers to the Company's warehouses and ultimately to customers. The role will oversee and coordinate key supply chain activities including demand planning, sourcing and supplier coordination, procurement support, importation, logistics, inventory planning, warehousing, order fulfilment and supply chain performance management. The role will also support the Company's expansion into new markets and ensure that supply chain processes are scalable and adaptable to operations across Nigeria and other African markets.
Develop and implement an effective end-to-end supply chain strategy aligned with the Company's commercial and operational objectives. Translate business and sales requirements into actionable supply plans. Develop supply plans based on historical consumption, sales forecasts, open orders, customer requirements, lead times and inventory levels. Establish appropriate inventory policies, reorder levels, safety stock and minimum/maximum stock levels for critical products. Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation and contingency plans. Continuously review supply chain processes and identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency and improved service delivery.
Work closely with the Sales to understand current and projected customer demand. Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts for key products and product categories. Monitor inventory levels across warehouses and business units. Ensure adequate availability of fast-moving, critical and strategic products while minimising excess and obsolete inventory. Analyse inventory turnover, stock ageing, slow-moving and non-moving items. Coordinate periodic inventory reviews and reconciliation with Warehouse, Finance and relevant stakeholders. Recommend appropriate actions for slow-moving, obsolete or excess stock. Monitor stock availability against customer orders and committed delivery timelines. Ensure that inventory planning considers supplier lead times, importation timelines, exchange-rate fluctuations and other supply constraints.
Importation, Shipping & Logistics Management:
Coordinate the end-to-end movement of imported goods from suppliers to the Company's designated warehouses. Monitor international shipments from order confirmation through production, dispatch, shipping, clearing and final delivery. Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping agents, clearing agents and other logistics service providers. Ensure that all required shipping and importation documentation is available and properly processed. Monitor customs clearance activities and work with relevant service providers to resolve clearance issues. Coordinate inland transportation from ports or other entry points to the Company's warehouse locations. Monitor freight, clearing, transportation and associated logistics costs. Identify opportunities to optimise shipment consolidation, freight costs and delivery timelines. Ensure that logistics activities comply with applicable regulatory and company requirements.
Coordinate with Sales and Warehouse teams to ensure customer orders are fulfilled within agreed timelines. Review open customer orders and ensure that supply requirements are aligned with delivery commitments. Identify potential fulfilment challenges early and communicate them to the relevant stakeholders. Prioritise supply allocation where inventory is constrained, based on approved business priorities. Monitor order fulfilment performance and identify recurring bottlenecks. Ensure that delivery schedules are realistic and aligned with actual inventory and supply availability. Work with logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective customer deliveries.
Work closely with the Warehouse team to ensure accurate and efficient inventory management. Ensure that warehouse inventory records are aligned with system records and physical stock. Support regular cycle counts, stock counts and inventory reconciliation exercises. Investigate and resolve inventory variances in collaboration with Warehouse, Finance and other relevant teams. Ensure appropriate handling and storage requirements are maintained for different categories of products. Monitor stock movements between locations where applicable. Review warehouse processes and recommend improvements to reduce losses, damages, stock discrepancies and operational inefficiencies. Support implementation of appropriate controls around inventory movements and stock accountability.
Monitor the Company's supply chain costs across procurement, freight, clearing, warehousing and transportation. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or customer service. Analyse landed costs and identify major cost drivers. Support management in evaluating alternative suppliers, shipping routes and logistics options. Monitor supplier price movements and their potential impact on margins. Ensure supply chain activities are conducted within approved budgets. Provide relevant cost and supply information to support pricing and commercial decisions. Identify opportunities to consolidate shipments and optimise logistics spend.
Identify potential supply chain risks including supplier dependency, stock shortages, shipping delays, regulatory changes, logistics disruptions and market volatility. Develop and maintain contingency plans for critical products and suppliers. Identify alternative suppliers and logistics routes where required. Monitor geopolitical, economic, regulatory and market developments that could impact supply continuity. Establish appropriate escalation mechanisms for critical supply chain disruptions. Ensure business continuity plans are practical and regularly reviewed.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, Finance or a related discipline. A Master's degree or relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage.
CIPS- Certified Supply Chain Professional CLTD- Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution CPSM Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution CILSCM (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Supply Chain Management) Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Other relevant Supply Chain, Procurement or Logistics certifications.
Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics, or operations management. At least 4 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience managing local and international suppliers. Demonstrable experience managing importation, freight, clearing and logistics operations. Experience in inventory planning and warehouse coordination. Experience working with ERP systems. Experience within engineering, industrial equipment, manufacturing, oil & gas, lubricants, industrial supplies, technical products or a related B2B environment will be highly advantageous. Experience managing supply chains involving international/OEM suppliers will be an advantage.
