Position Summary

The Logistics Manager plays a crucial role in Olam's supply chain operations, overseeing and enhancing the complete movement of goods from sourcing to delivery. This position requires a strategic mindset coupled with strong execution abilities, capable of managing intricate logistics networks while ensuring cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The Logistics Manager will work closely with various internal departments (including sourcing, production, sales, and finance) and external partners (such as suppliers, transporters, freight forwarders, and customs brokers) to guarantee a smooth and timely flow of materials and finished products. The ideal candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of logistics principles, strong negotiation skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a dedication to Olam's core values of being Collaborative, Agile, Resourceful, Entrepreneurial, and Sustainable.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Optimization: Formulate and implement logistics strategies, policies, and procedures in line with Olam's overall business goals. Continuously seek opportunities for process enhancement, cost reduction, and improved efficiency across the logistics network.
Transportation Management: Supervise all transportation activities, including carrier selection, rate and contract negotiation, route optimization, shipment tracking, and performance monitoring. Ensure timely and cost-effective movement of goods via various modes of transport as required.
Warehouse & Inventory Management: Direct warehouse operations, including storage, handling, and inventory control. Implement industry best practices for warehouse layout, space utilization, and inventory accuracy. Ensure adherence to safety regulations and quality standards.
Customs & Compliance: Guarantee compliance with all relevant customs regulations, import/export laws, and trade compliance requirements. Manage relationships with customs brokers and ensure timely and accurate documentation.
Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, carriers, freight forwarders, warehouse providers, and regulatory authorities. Effectively communicate and collaborate to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.


Strategic Impact


Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics operations (e.g., on-time delivery, transportation costs, warehouse efficiency, inventory accuracy). Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting performance and identifying areas for improvement.
Budget Management: Develop and oversee the logistics budget, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial targets. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks within logistics operations and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure business continuity plans are in place.
Team Leadership & Development: Guide, mentor, and develop the logistics team (if applicable), fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Technology Adoption: Assess and implement relevant logistics technologies and systems to improve efficiency, visibility, and decision-making.
Sustainability in Logistics: Identify and implement sustainable logistics practices, considering environmental impact, ethical sourcing, and long-term viability.


Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CSCP, CLTD) would be advantageous.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in logistics and supply chain management, preferably within a multinational organization or logistics company.
Demonstrated experience in managing complex logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and customs.
Strong understanding of logistics principles, practices, and regulations.
Proficiency in using logistics software and systems (e.g., TMS, WMS, ERP modules).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Knowledge of international trade and customs procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements: Willingness to travel as needed.
