The Mid-Level Mobile Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing mobile applications across Android and cross-platform environments using tools such as Flutter, delivering intuitive, high-performing, and reliable user experiences. The role holder will work closely with UI/UX designers, back-end developers, and product teams to translate designs and requirements into high-quality mobile and front-end code, ensuring performance, accessibility, and consistency across the organisation’s digital products.

Design and develop responsive, user-friendly mobile applications for Android, and cross-platform using Flutter, in line with UI/UX design specifications and brand guidelines. Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code for mobile and front-end applications, adhering to established coding standards and best practices. Build and maintain reusable widgets, components, and libraries for use across mobile and web front-end applications, using Flutter, Dart, Kotlin, and related front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js). Translate UI/UX wireframes and mockups into high-quality, pixel-perfect, and accessible mobile and web interfaces that render consistently across devices and screen sizes. Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate mobile and front-end applications with RESTful and GraphQL APIs and other back-end services. Optimise mobile and web applications for maximum speed, responsiveness, and performance across different devices, operating system versions, and screen sizes. Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs, providing input and feedback during the design process for mobile and web platforms. Implement and follow mobile and front-end security best practices, protecting applications against common vulnerabilities and safeguarding user data. Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive technical feedback to maintain code quality across the team. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and technical issues in existing mobile and front-end applications. Write and maintain unit, widget, and integration tests for mobile and front-end code, using tools such as Flutter Test, Jest, or Espresso, to ensure application reliability. Maintain, upgrade, and refactor existing mobile and front-end code, ensuring continued functionality, performance, and compliance with current platform standards. Collaborate with the product manager, business analyst, designers, and QA specialist to translate requirements into well-engineered mobile and front-end solutions. Support the build and release process for mobile applications, including app store and Play Store submissions, and follow CI/CD and DevOps practices to streamline delivery. Leverage AI tools and coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) to enhance development speed, code quality, and problem-solving efficiency. Stay current with emerging mobile and front-end technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices, applying relevant advancements to improve the quality and efficiency of software delivery

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or HND in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field Relevant professional certifications are an advantage, including: Google Associate Android Developer, Flutter certifications, Meta Front-End Developer Certificate, or equivalent. UI/UX or mobile accessibility-related certifications are also desirable. Minimum of Three (3) years’ experience as a Mobile Developer, Frontend Developer, or in a similar role, with a demonstrable track record of building and shipping Android and/or Flutter applications, along with front-end web development experience.

Excellent knowledge of Flutter and Dart for cross-platform mobile development, and native Android development using Kotlin or Java. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, Vue.js) for web-based front-end development. Proficiency in responsive and mobile-first design principles, ensuring interfaces work seamlessly across devices and screen sizes. Experience consuming RESTful and GraphQL APIs and handling asynchronous data in mobile and front-end applications. Proficiency in version control systems and branching strategies (e.g., Git, GitFlow). Experience with mobile and front-end testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Flutter Test, Espresso, Jest, Cypress). Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and app distribution processes, including Google Play Store and app signing/release workflows. Understanding of mobile platform guidelines (Material Design), device compatibility issues, and mobile performance optimisation techniques. Understanding of mobile and front-end security principles, including secure data storage, authentication, and common client-side vulnerabilities. Strong knowledge of UI/UX design concepts and the ability to implement visually consistent, accessible mobile and front-end interfaces. Familiarity with state management approaches for mobile and front-end applications (e.g., Provider, Bloc, Riverpod, Redux, Context API). Basic understanding of back-end technologies and databases sufficient to collaborate effectively with back-end developers. Familiarity with agile and scrum development methodologies.
