Reports To: Managing Director Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Operations to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the company’s operational functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient and effective day-to-day operations across the organization, including branch operations, loan processing, customer service, and back-office activities. The role will drive operational excellence, process improvement, risk management, regulatory compliance, and the implementation of effective policies and controls. The successful candidate will also monitor operational performance, provide management reports, and collaborate with other departments to achieve the company’s strategic objectives. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the microfinance industry, excellent leadership capabilities, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of managing complex financial operations.


Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the company’s operational activities. Oversee branch operations, loan processing, customer service, and back-office functions. Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and controls. Monitor operational performance and ensure achievement of established targets and KPIs. Drive process improvement and operational efficiency across the organization. Ensure compliance with applicable microfinance regulations, internal policies, and industry best practices. Identify operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures. Supervise, develop, and motivate operational teams to achieve organizational objectives. Prepare and present periodic operational performance reports to Management. Ensure effective coordination between Operations and other departments. Monitor service delivery standards and drive continuous improvement in customer experience. Support the implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at sustainable business growth.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline. MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage. Professional certification such as ICAN or ACCA is mandatory. Minimum of 8–10 years’ relevant experience in operations management, preferably within the microfinance or financial services sector. Strong knowledge of microfinance operations, regulatory requirements, risk management, and industry best practices. Proven experience managing teams and complex operational functions. Strong understanding of loan processing and financial services operations. Excellent leadership, analytical, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. High level of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail.
