 Job Title: Clearing Specialist

Location: Illupeju, Lagos

To provide operational and technical support for the organisation’s clearing and settlement platforms, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions. The role is responsible for monitoring clearing activities, supporting reconciliation, investigating transaction exceptions, resolving basic processing issues, and escalating complex issues appropriately to ensure reliable clearing and settlement services.

Duties & Responsibilities

Monitor daily clearing transactions and platform activities to ensure accurate and timely processing. Identify, investigate, and resolve basic transaction exceptions, failed transactions, rejects, reversals, and processing discrepancies. Support daily clearing and settlement activities, including transaction validation, file processing, settlement preparation, and confirmation. Assist with daily transaction reconciliation across clearing systems and internal platforms, escalating unresolved discrepancies for further investigation. Monitor transaction flows, system interfaces, processing queues, and system logs to identify potential technical or operational issues. Provide first-level technical and operational support for clearing and settlement platforms and escalate complex issues to the appropriate technical teams. Support system testing, upgrades, enhancements, deployments, and other approved changes affecting clearing and settlement platforms. Collaborate with internal Technology, Operations, Finance, and other relevant teams to resolve transaction and clearing-related issues. Maintain accurate records of incidents, exceptions, reconciliations, and resolutions, and prepare routine operational reports. Adhere to established operational procedures, service level agreements, security requirements, and applicable clearing and payment industry regulations.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (BSc. /B.Eng /HND.) in any of the following: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, Cyber security, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Systems, Information Technology or a related discipline.

3–5 years of relevant experience in payment operations, transaction processing, clearing and settlement, technical support, banking, fintech, or a related field.

Payment & Clearing Knowledge – Basic understanding of electronic payments, transaction processing, clearing, settlement, and reconciliation processes. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to analyse transaction information, identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and determine appropriate actions. Technical & Systems Awareness – Basic understanding of payment platforms, system interfaces, databases, transaction monitoring, and technical support processes. Accuracy, Risk & Compliance – Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy, operational controls, security, and compliance with established procedures. Communication, Teamwork & Learning Agility – Good communication and collaboration skills, willingness to learn, accountability, and ability to work effectively under pressure. Certifications- The following certifications are an added advantage-:ITIL Foundation, Oracle/PostgreSQL CCNA, AWS/Azure Fundamentals, Mastercard/Visa certifications.
