We are seeking a skilled and experienced Auto-Mechanic Engineer to join our maintenance team in Ibeju-Lekki. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and ensuring the operational reliability of company vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, and automotive equipment. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on mechanical expertise, good diagnostic abilities, and practical experience working with diesel engines, heavy-duty vehicles, hydraulic systems, transmission systems, and automotive electrical components.


Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repairs of company vehicles and heavy-duty automotive equipment. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize vehicle and equipment downtime. Troubleshoot and repair diesel and petrol engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, suspension systems, and cooling systems. Inspect engines, gearboxes, axles, differentials, clutches, and other mechanical components for wear and damage. Carry out engine overhaul, component replacement, and other major mechanical repairs when required. Diagnose and repair automotive electrical and electronic systems. Conduct routine checks on batteries, alternators, starters, lighting systems, sensors, and related components. Maintain and service hydraulic systems, pumps, cylinders, hoses, and related components where applicable. Carry out vehicle inspections before and after repairs to ensure roadworthiness and operational safety. Identify potential mechanical problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, replaced parts, and vehicle service history. Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules for the company’s automotive fleet. Monitor the condition and performance of vehicles and recommend timely replacement of worn or defective components. Ensure proper use, handling, and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment. Work closely with drivers, operators, supervisors, and other maintenance personnel to identify and resolve vehicle-related issues. Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities are completed in accordance with approved technical standards and manufacturer specifications. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment. Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, workshop procedures, and applicable safety standards. Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and minimize operational disruptions.

Requirements & Qualifications

HND, Bachelor’s Degree, OND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field. 3–6 years of relevant experience in automotive maintenance, fleet maintenance, heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, or a similar role. Proven hands-on experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicles. Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Experience working with trucks, buses, construction equipment, forklifts, or other industrial/heavy-duty equipment will be an advantage. Ability to use automotive diagnostic tools and workshop equipment effectively. Good understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices. Ability to interpret technical manuals, service manuals, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Good knowledge of automotive spare parts and component identification. Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to breakdowns and urgent maintenance requirements. Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability. Good communication and teamwork skills. Knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements within a workshop/industrial environment.


Preferred Experience:

Candidates with experience in manufacturing, steel, mining, construction, logistics, fleet operations, heavy-duty equipment, or other industrial environments are strongly encouraged to apply.
