Location: Ikeja, Lagos Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of high-capacity generator sets, particularly 450 kVA and above. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience working on diesel engines and generator systems and be comfortable diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults in a workshop environment.

Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on high-capacity diesel generator sets, particularly 450 kVA and above. Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in diesel engines and generator components. Perform engine overhauls, repairs, servicing, and replacement of defective components. Troubleshoot issues involving cooling, lubrication, fuel, exhaust, and other engine-related systems. Inspect engines and generator components to identify signs of wear, damage, or failure. Carry out engine oil, filter, belt, hose, coolant, and other routine maintenance replacements. Conduct fault diagnosis using appropriate tools, testing equipment, and technical manuals. Dismantle, repair, reassemble, and test engines and mechanical components as required. Perform load testing and operational checks after repairs to confirm that generators are functioning properly. Accurately document work carried out, identified faults, replaced parts, and maintenance activities. Maintain proper use and care of workshop tools, equipment, and facilities. Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with established safety and quality standards. Work closely with Electrical Technicians and other workshop personnel to resolve generator-related issues. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.

OND, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical  Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or a related technical field. 5-7years' hands-on experience working on diesel engines and generator sets. Proven experience working on high-capacity generators of 450 kVA and above. Strong knowledge of diesel engine mechanical systems and generator maintenance. Experience with engine troubleshooting, servicing, repairs, and overhauling. Ability to read and understand technical manuals and mechanical diagrams. Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a busy workshop environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Experience working on Perkins, Cummins, Volvo Penta, MWM, or similar diesel engines will be an advantage.

We are particularly interested in technicians who are hands-on, technically sound, and experienced with large generator sets, rather than candidates whose experience is limited to small generators.
