Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers Description
We are recruiting experienced professionals who are passionate about excellence, technology, quality, customer experience and building efficient healthcare systems from the ground up. The IT System Administrator will be responsible for the availability, security, reliability and performance of the diagnostic centre's IT infrastructure, laboratory information systems, network, servers, workstations, integrations and technology-enabled laboratory operations.
Design, implement and maintain the organisation's IT infrastructure. Manage servers, network infrastructure, computers, printers, scanners, UPS systems and other IT assets. Administer and support the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)and/or Hospital Information Management System (HIMS). Configure and maintain user accounts, access rights, passwords and system permissions. Ensure secure integration between LIMS/HIMS and laboratory analysers. Support communication between automated laboratory analysers and the LIMS, including interface configuration and troubleshooting. Manage laboratory result transmission and electronic reporting workflows. Manage the dispatch interface, including technology supporting sample collection, sample movement, courier/dispatch workflows and tracking where applicable. Troubleshoot hardware, software, network and connectivity problems. Manage LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, internet connectivity, firewalls, switches, routers and other network devices. Implement appropriate data backup, disaster recovery and business-continuity systems. Monitor server performance, storage capacity, network performance and system uptime. Establish appropriate cybersecurity controls for healthcare information systems. Protect patient information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure. Maintain IT asset registers and lifecycle records. Coordinate vendors and technical service providers. Support cybersecurity awareness among staff. Maintain system documentation, network diagrams, user guides and IT procedures. Support integration using recognised healthcare data standards, including HL7 where applicable. Participate in technology projects, system upgrades and implementation of new digital solutions. Provide technical support during laboratory operations and regulatory/quality assessments. Support IT-related aspects of the laboratory's ISO 15189:2022 quality management system.
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Health Informatics or a related discipline. Minimum of 5 years' experience managing IT infrastructure, preferably within a hospital, medical diagnostic centre or clinical laboratory. Demonstrable experience administering LIMS/HIMS. Experience connecting or supporting automated laboratory analysers and information-system interfaces is required. Experience managing servers, networks and enterprise IT infrastructure. Experience in healthcare information technology is strongly preferred. Any of the following certifications will be an advantage:
CompTIA Network+ CompTIA Security+ Cisco CCNA Microsoft Certified Professional/Microsoft role-based certifications
Experience in HL7 is an advantage.
Strong systems administration skills. Server administration and network management. Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills. LIMS/HIMS administration. Experience connecting laboratory analysers to LIMS. Understanding of analyser-to-LIMS interfaces and data transmission. Knowledge of databases and basic SQL is an advantage. Knowledge of cybersecurity, endpoint protection and access control. Strong backup and disaster-recovery skills. Familiarity with HL7 data standards. Familiarity with HIPAA/GDPR principles for protection of health information, applied appropriately within the Nigerian regulatory environment. Knowledge of cloud services and virtualisation is an advantage. Strong documentation skills. Ability to train non-technical users. Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to system downtime. Strong project-management and vendor-management skills.
Monthly Salary: N500,000 / Month HMO + Pension.
