Location: Lekki, Lagos  About the Role

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Insurance Underwriter to join their high-performance team. In this role, you'll assess and evaluate insurance risks, determine appropriate terms and pricing, and ensure risks accepted align with underwriting guidelines and profitability objectives.

What You'll Do

Evaluate insurance proposals and assess risks against underwriting guidelines. Review application forms, risk surveys, claims history, and financial documentation. Determine terms, conditions, limits, deductibles, and premiums for risks presented. Prepare and issue quotations, policy schedules, endorsements, and renewal terms. Liaise with brokers, agents, and clients to clarify underwriting requirements. Negotiate terms with brokers and intermediaries to secure profitable business. Monitor renewal portfolios to maintain retention and profitability targets. Analyze underwriting performance, loss ratios, and portfolio trends. Collaborate with claims, marketing, risk management, and finance teams.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's Degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Business Administration, Economics, or related field. 2–5 years' experience in underwriting, insurance operations, or a related role (general insurance underwriting preferred). Solid understanding of insurance principles, risk assessment, and policy wordings. Knowledge of insurance regulations, compliance, and market trends. ACII, ACIIN, Diploma in Insurance, or equivalent is an added advantage.

Strong analytical and decision-making ability. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Good negotiation and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and insurance management systems. High integrity, self-motivation, and a results-oriented mindset.
