The HR Supervisor is responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day human resources activities of the farm. The role will oversee workforce planning and deployment, recruitment and onboarding, attendance and payroll support, employee welfare, labour compliance, employee relations, and general HR operations. The role will ensure that the farm maintains an adequate, productive, and engaged workforce while ensuring compliance with company policies, applicable labour laws, and operational requirements. The HR Supervisor will serve as a key link between farm management, supervisors, and employees, ensuring that employee-related matters are promptly and effectively addressed.
Duties and responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day HR operations of the farm and ensure effective implementation of HR policies and procedures. Coordinate workforce planning and ensure the availability of adequate manpower to support farm operations. Monitor daily attendance, punctuality, absenteeism, overtime, leave, and general workforce utilisation. Maintain accurate daily and monthly headcount records for permanent, casual, seasonal, contract, and outsourced workers. Work closely with the Farm Manager and supervisors to determine manpower requirements based on operational and seasonal demands. Manage the end-to-end recruitment process for farm employees, casual workers, seasonal workers, and other approved positions. Source, screen, interview, and recommend suitable candidates in line with approved manpower requirements. Coordinate pre-employment documentation, reference checks, background verification, and other onboarding requirements. Conduct employee orientation and onboarding, ensuring new employees understand their roles, policies, procedures, and workplace expectations. Maintain an updated database of available casual and seasonal workers to support immediate workforce requirements. Compile and validate attendance, overtime, leave, allowances, deductions, and other payroll inputs for processing. Support the preparation and review of payroll for permanent, casual, seasonal, contract, and outsourced workers. Investigate and resolve discrepancies relating to attendance, payroll, deductions, and employee records. Maintain complete and accurate personnel files and HR records for all categories of farm workers. Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, statutory requirements, company policies, and employment conditions. Monitor compliance with working hours, rest periods, leave entitlements, employee contracts, and other applicable employment requirements. Coordinate employee welfare initiatives, including accommodation, transportation, meals, sanitation, healthcare, and other approved welfare provisions where applicable. Liaise with relevant departments to address employee health, safety, welfare, and workplace concerns. Serve as the first point of contact for employee grievances, complaints, and workplace concerns. Support the resolution of employee and industrial relations issues in a fair, timely, and consistent manner. Manage and document disciplinary cases, investigations, grievances, and other employee relations matters in accordance with company policies. Maintain positive employee relations and promote a productive, respectful, and harmonious work environment. Liaise with labour representatives, unions, contractors, and other relevant external parties on employee-related matters where required. Support performance management, employee confirmation, appraisal, training, and development activities. Prepare periodic HR reports covering headcount, recruitment, turnover, absenteeism, attendance, overtime, leave, payroll, and other relevant HR metrics. Monitor workforce turnover and identify trends or issues requiring management attention. Ensure proper documentation and filing of all HR transactions and employee-related records. Support HR audits, labour inspections, compliance reviews, and other statutory or internal requirements. Provide HR guidance and support to Farm Managers, supervisors, and employees on HR policies and employee-related matters. Identify HR-related risks and recommend appropriate solutions to improve workforce productivity and employee engagement. Participate in manpower budgeting, workforce forecasting, and other HR planning activities. Perform other HR and administrative duties as assigned by management.
Minimum of a second-class upper Bachelorās Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Management, Social Sciences, or any other relevant discipline. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably within Agriculture, Manufacturing, Construction, Oil & Gas, or another labour-intensive environment. Professional certification such as CIPM, SHRM, or equivalent is an added advantage. Proven experience managing a diverse workforce, including permanent, casual, seasonal, contract, or outsourced workers. Demonstrated experience in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, attendance management, payroll support, and HR administration. Good knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and employment practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to maintain accurate employee records and prepare HR reports and workforce analytics. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding operational environment. Willingness to work on-site and adapt to the operational requirements of a farm environment.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, labour-intensive environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong reporting and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel. Adaptability and willingness to work within a farm/site environment.
Experience working in a large-scale commercial farm, agricultural company, manufacturing company, or other labour-intensive organisation. Experience managing casual and seasonal labour. Experience handling labour contractors, outsourcing companies, unions, or labour representatives. Experience with HRIS, payroll, biometric attendance, or workforce management systems.
