Breeder Farm Manager

Position Overview


We are seeking a qualified and experienced Breeder Farm Manager to reside on our farm located along Ijebu Ode Road.
The Farm Manager will report to the General Manager and be responsible for the overall care, biosecurity, and husbandry of the facilities and poultry.


Key Duties


Oversee daily farm operations, including animal husbandry and staff management
Maintain a safe work environment and report on farm activities.
Plan and prioritize tasks, manage working hours, and authorize activities.
Ensure performance, quality, animal welfare, and cost objectives are met
Perform general maintenance on all aspects of the farm.
Fulfill all aspects of farm management
Lead and motivate a team.
Ensure livestock welfare and monitor farm conditions.
Manage feed and ventilation systems
Monitor production performance and maintain records
Ensure ventilation, drinkers, feeders, dead bird disposal, and lighting adhere to best practices and standards.
Monitor male spiking, fertility, hatchability, culling, and production percentages.
Track and monitor egg production and quality
Provide advice on best practices, policies, procedures, biosecurity protocols, etc.
Monitor bird weights and health, and follow vaccination schedules.
Review & implement strict biosecurity measures & enforce high standards of safety, cleanliness, and maintenance for personnel and properties
Ensure the training and development of all Breeder Technicians.
Supervise and manage assigned breeder operations, ensuring required quantity and quality of hatch eggs are available for hatcheries.
Monitor pullet placements, moves, vaccinations, and ensure hatch egg numbers.
Provide performance and cost data to accounting and management.
Ensure maximum operational and financial performance of the breeder farm business
Responsible for all associated field management activities, administration of livestock record-keeping, maintenance of fixed & movable property facilities associated with livestock production, and husbandry of animal assets.
Monitor pullet and breeder flock health and adherence to blood testing procedures.
Maintain pullet growing agreements and breeder flock agreements.
Perform all other assigned duties.


Qualifications & Experience


HND / BSc in Agriculture (Animal Production / Poultry Science)
Must be able to work in a highly dynamic environment, under time constraints, and to a very high standard of accuracy.
Minimum 5 years' poultry breeder operational experience.
Minimum 3+ years' supervisory/management experience in a similar environment.
Strong organizational and structural skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of breeder operations
Excellent communication skills and ability to influence teams
Willingness to reside on the Farm.
