The University Librarian is responsible for the administration and coordination of all Library services in Kwara State University. The role requires academic and administrative leadership, a Master's degree in Library Science, and at least fifteen years of cognate experience.

Kwara State University (KWASU) is a public state research university located in Malete, Kwara State, Nigeria. It is the 77th university to be accredited by the NUC, and the 95th university to be recognized in Nigeria. The university has about 60 academic departments spread across 11 faculties.

The university was established by the administration of Dr. Bukola Saraki in 2009, and envisioned to be more than a typical university in Nigeria. It was designed to be a centre for community service and entrepreneurship. In a country where the fundamental values of volunteerism and community involvement are yet to be fully embraced, the university recognises itself as a part of a community and has the position of a Director for Community Development to mobilize the community, set assessment strategies, and identifying the needs within the community so that lecturers can use their expertise to impact directly on the communities.  Job Title: University Librarian

Location: Malete, Kwara Duties

The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration of the University Library and coordination of all Library services in the University (the Main Library and in Libraries across all campuses of the University). As an Academic Staff, the University Librarian will be required to provide both academic and administrative leadership to staff in the University Library.

A good honours degree from a recognised university with minimum of Master Degree in Library Science. Possession of a Doctorate Degree will be an added advantage At least twenty-four (24) scholarly publications in reputable journals At least fifteen (15) years cognate experience in a recognised University, five (5) of which must be as a Deputy University Librarian or be at least an Associate Professor of Library Science A clear understanding of the roles and nature of a University Library in the new global century. Applicants must be Information and Communication Technology (ICT) compliant A command of respect and ability to provide leadership and offer appropriate advice on matters affecting the University.

Tenure

The successful candidate shall hold office for a term of five years with eligibility for reappointment for a second term of five (5) years only.

The University Librarian will be entitled to the salary and other conditions of service as applicable to the position in a Nigerian public university as may be approved by the Governing Council of the Kwara State University, Malete. Application Closing Date
