POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is centered on crafting comprehensive electrical designs, including schematics, layouts, and component specifications for electrical panels. The primary objective is to ensure optimal performance, safety, and adherence to industry standards.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Design and Development: Create innovative and efficient electrical panel designs in accordance with project specifications.
Component Selection: Select and integrate suitable electrical components, such as switch gears (low and medium voltage), circuit breakers, relays, switch boxes, and wiring to enhance system reliability and performance efficiency.
CAD and Electrical Schematics: Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce accurate electrical diagrams, layouts, and technical drawings.
Protection and Electrical Scheme Design: Analyze and convert customer requirements into comprehensive system solutions, incorporating cutting-edge approaches to products, personnel, technology, and system optimization.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, electrical codes, and safety regulations.
Prototyping and Testing: Develop and evaluate functional prototypes to validate designs prior to mass production. Create testing documentation and conduct factory and on-site testing for Protection and Electrical schemes during project implementation.
Technical Documentation: Generate comprehensive electrical design documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications for manufacturing and quality assurance purposes.
Project Execution: Efficiently manage engineering projects, ensuring adherence to established time, cost, and quality parameters.
Customer Support and Fault Investigation: Offer technical assistance and conduct post-fault investigations to address customer needs and maintain system reliability.
Business Development Support: Identify market opportunities and contribute to business growth by assessing potential areas for expansion within the industry.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
CAD Software Proficiency: Expertise in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent computer-aided design (CAD) tools for creating precise electrical schematics and layouts.
Circuit Design and Analysis: Strong analytical skills to develop and evaluate electrical circuits, low and medium voltage switch gears, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and performance requirements.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision and accuracy, ensuring high-quality and error-free electrical panel designs that meet industry standards.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Electrical Engineering.
Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Professional Technologist (preferred).
The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in electrical design, CAD Software, power system designs, and Protection systems, with a proven track record in developing prototypes and conducting testing and commissioning.
Minimum of 6+ years of experience in sizing power, low and medium voltage switch gear rating, and switch boxes
At least 6+ years of experience in power engineering, panel configuration and design, as well as installation
Experience serving as a Technical Lead on projects, with overall responsibility for ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.
